Peter Griffin by Reey Whaar in Afghanistan
Instant classic.
I’ve featured Whaar on the gallery before. Remember Handmade? I know this piece has made the rounds before but it is definitely worth including in the gallery. I had to do some research to verify this piece was indeed Whaar’s and thanks to Billy D for helping me do just that.
Since Peter Griffin is but a 2-dimensional character I’m pretty sure that this painting all came from Whaar’s imagination and creativity. Making a realistic impression of an already well known fictional character couldn’t have been very easy. Key parts, for me, are the ear which the ‘real’ Griffin barely has, the eyes because the cartoon version of Griffin has eyes that fill the frame of his glasses, and the cleft chin.
Marvelous.
