Schlern by Dieter (or wystemd on Flickr) in Germany.
What a gorgeous subject! The images of Schlern via Google show, beyond the shadow of a doubt, what inspired Dieter to create this truly inspiring watercolor.
I really admire this painting for its depth, its framing and the use of blue. Whenever an artist manages to use a color that seems out of place when you say it out loud – yet it works perfectly – you’ve got the real deal on your hands. For instance, if I said “use blue for shadows, leaves, and the foreground” it wouldn’t sound like a good idea. But just look at this painting. It works perfectly.
