“Descendant” by Raymond Andreotti in Hopedale, Massachusetts.
Andreotti recently won an award for this painting in the 12th Biennial (which means it happens every-other year) North American Exhibition at the North Shore Arts Association in Gloucester, Massachusetts.
The award is certainly well deserved. Although I don’t feel this photo of the painting does it justice I can see how great a piece it must be. Reflections and ‘the wet look’, as many of you know, are two of my favorite themes in paintings. Just look at how much it adds to this painting! If the huge puddle wasn’t there how much character would this painting have? Sure, it’d still be a nice painting – but the puddle and its reflection are surely big factors into this painting winning any awards.
