Day 44th by Herry Arifin in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
A great artist can make something beautiful from the mundane. Still life paintings are the best example of this in that the artist takes something as simple as a vase of sunflowers and createsa masterpiece.
Arifin is a master artist. His urban watercolor paintings are of some of the more mundane urban settings, yet they are visually striking and evoke moods that can only be accomplished by someone as skilled as Arifin.
The above piece of a stop sign is one of the better examples of this. The stop sign pops. Everything else is context. Everything else is about the mood. I really love this. However, his entire watercolor portfolio is bursting at the seems with awesome. I simply have to share just a few more of his works with you. Take a looky look at The Cold Sale, Not In Serviceand Sushi Time.
Don’t miss the “How I Paint” page on Arifin’s website.
Herry Arifin is also on Flickr and runs a pretty killer YouTube channel.
