Twisting Mountain by Robin Purcell in Northern California.
Another plein air artist, following the excellent Tina Bohlman from this morning, is Robin Purcell. The works in her portfolio are vivid, captivating and remind me very much of the area of the world that I live in – Northeastern Pennsylvania.
This particular piece reminds me of Elk Mountain in our area. In fact, I think I have a photo from the top of Elk that strikes an amazing resemblance. I look at this work by Purcell and I think about how much more interesting it is than the way I would have done it. Teal? Such a washed out sky? It is brilliant. I think I’ll take a stab at her style when I find the photo.
