Salvation by Michael Waltonin San Diego, California.

Long-time fans of The Watercolor Gallery will know I featured a very similar work by Ramon Valdez three weeks ago. I guess I’m just a sucker for koi.

Walton, who is better known for his work in fantasy and superheroes, is a very patient artist. The time and attention he gives to each of his paintings is readily apparent. Those realistic details don’t come easy.

In this work I can only imagine the “wet look” is what took the most effort. The hands look as though they just scooped the fish out of the water. The view of the fish and the hands through the water is really great.

Click on his name to see his website. You’ll like a few of his other pieces – especially Hulk2.
